OF-SFP10

SKU OKT-OFSFP10 · From $24

A 10G optics and DAC family that's coded for OKTET and honest about reach.

  • One family covers SR, LR, ER optics and passive/active DAC and AOC — same part prefix.
  • Factory-coded for OKTET switches and routers; DOM reads clean, no compatibility warnings.
  • Published reach per fiber grade — 300 m on OM3, 400 m on OM4, 10 km on OS2 — no rounding up.

05 / ENGINEERING NOTES

OF-SFP10 is the optics and direct-attach family for everything in the OKTET 10G line — the OS-2400, the OP-1600 uplinks, the OR-8000 and OR-2000 fiber ports. It exists as one part family rather than a scatter of SKUs so that ordering is a matter of picking reach, not decoding a compatibility matrix. Every transceiver is coded for OKTET hardware, which means it reads cleanly over DOM and never trips the “unsupported optic” warning that third-party modules often do on locked-down platforms.

The range covers the cases you actually hit. Inside a rack or between adjacent racks, passive DAC at 0.5 to 3 m is the cheapest and lowest-power option — effectively zero watts, no transceiver to fail. Across a row, active DAC reaches 5 to 7 m. Within a building, 10GBASE-SR runs 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4; between buildings, 10GBASE-LR covers 10 km on single-mode and 10GBASE-ER covers 40 km. We publish reach per fiber grade because “up to 400 m” on an OM3 plant is a number that fails at 350 m, and we would rather you order the right part once.

Every optic carries full digital diagnostics — temperature, supply voltage, transmit and receive optical power, and laser bias current — readable through the switch CLI or REST, so a marginal link shows up as a falling Rx power number before it shows up as packet loss. An industrial temperature variant (-40 °C to 85 °C) is available for outdoor cabinets and unconditioned plant.

Ordering note: Specify reach and fiber type per link — DAC length, SR/LR/ER, multimode or single-mode. BiDi single-strand optics are available in matched A/B pairs for fiber-constrained runs. Optics ship individually anti-static bagged with a dust plug fitted; DAC and AOC ship as complete assemblies. There is no separate datasheet per length — the OF-SFP10 family datasheet covers the full reach table and DOM thresholds.
