We build network hardware the way it should be built — to spec, and then proven.

OKTET started from a frustration every network engineer knows: datasheets that describe a switch nobody could actually buy. So we wrote the rule down and never softened it — publish the number you can measure, then prove the box can hold it. Everything below is how that rule shows up in the metal.

STAGE 01 — BURN-IN
48HRS

Every switch runs a 48-hour thermal and traffic soak — chambered, cycled hot to cold, every port driven to line rate. Infant-mortality failures surface here, on our bench, not in your closet.

STAGE 02 — INSPECTION

Automated optical inspection reads every solder joint against the reference image. Then a human walks all 24 or 48 ports with a loopback and signs the traveller by hand.

STAGE 03 — TRACEABILITY

Every serial maps to its board revision, solder profile, optics batch and soak log. When a field failure comes back, we can trace it to the exact lot — and close the loop into the next revision.

WHAT WE WILL NOT BEND

Four rules. They decide everything else.

  1. 01 / 04

    Publish the real number.

    Every spec on this site is measured on the bench, line-rate, both directions, with 64-byte frames included. No marketing throughput, no asterisks, no "up to". If you can reproduce it, it ships; if you cannot reproduce ours, that is a bug and we want the ticket.

  2. 02 / 04

    Prove it before it ships.

    Hardware that has not been tested is a hypothesis. Every unit runs a 48-hour thermal and traffic soak, automated optical inspection, and a full port walk before it leaves the line. A unit that drifts never gets a serial number.

  3. 03 / 04

    Make it serviceable for a decade.

    Hot-swap PSUs, field-replaceable fans, firmware we still patch years out, and a traceable bill of materials for every revision. We design for the median twelve-year service life our field record actually shows — not the next purchase order.

  4. 04 / 04

    Answer like an engineer.

    Sales is not a department here. Ask about a link budget, a buffer depth, an EVPN corner case, and the reply comes from someone who could rack the box themselves. We would rather lose a deal than oversell a design.

Dana designs the reference topologies OKTET hardware is validated against, from single-rack offices to multi-site ISP cores. She spent twelve years running carrier and enterprise networks before joining the team that decides what a switch has to survive before it ships.

Ravi Mehta

Ravi owns the burn-in, thermal, and field-failure programs that decide whether a unit earns the OKTET label. He reads return logs the way some people read the news, and most of his job is finding the one board in ten thousand that would have failed at 2 a.m. in a customer's closet.
