Haruka Pendleton spent a decade in counterintelligence at the CIA before anyone outside a small circle of cleared individuals knew her name. She built adversary profiling methodologies that, in a different context, would have been published in peer-reviewed journals. In the context she operated in, they were classified.
After leaving government, she joined FireEye's Targeted Threats team, where she rebuilt those methodologies for the commercial intelligence market and published a version of them in 2025 under the title "The Profiler's Toolkit." The publication was notable both for what it contained and for what it carefully omitted.
At SCRYER, Haruka leads the Adversary Profiling practice. She is the analyst you want when the question is not what the adversary did but who they are, how they think, and what they will do next. She reads operational telemetry the way most people read newspapers.
“An adversary's discipline tells you more than their capability. Sloppy operators leave trails; patient ones leave theories.”
