Ezra Tannenbaum spent eighteen years across federal civilian roles, including a tour as Senior Advisor at CISA, before pivoting to the private sector. His appointment to two Fortune 50 boards as Cybersecurity Counsel marked a turning point in how large American corporations approached the translation of technical risk into boardroom language.

His 2024 essay in the Harvard Business Review, "Quantifying Strategic Cyber Risk," became required reading in several MBA programs within months of publication. It argued, with considerable evidence, that most corporate cyber risk assessments were quantitatively incoherent, pricing tail risk at a fraction of its actuarial value.

At SCRYER, Ezra leads the Strategic Advisory practice. He is the analyst clients call when they need to brief their boards, testify before a congressional committee, or explain a breach to general counsel without triggering a second crisis.

A board that understands cyber risk as strategic risk will make better capital allocation decisions, not just better security decisions.
