A small studio with a long memory.

We started MONOLITH in 2009 with one rule we still keep: never design a building you would not want to stand inside in twenty years.

We work slowly, in two cities, on a small number of projects at a time. We keep buildings when we can, pour concrete honestly when we cannot, and treat daylight as the first and cheapest material on every site.

We are not interested in the spectacular. We are interested in the inevitable, the building that, once finished, looks like it could not have been any other way.
