Inside the Spring Collection

This spring, OBSIDIAN presents six pieces that draw from two seemingly opposed traditions: the deliberate asymmetry of Japanese flower arrangement and the geometric purity of concrete architecture. The collection began with a visit to the Chichu Art Museum on Naoshima island, where natural light falls through precisely angled openings to illuminate underground galleries. That interplay of void and substance became our design language.

Each piece in the collection features an intentional negative space — a gap, an absence, a window within the metal — that defines the form as much as the material itself. The Aperture Ring, for instance, is a gold band with a rectangular opening that frames the finger within it, turning skin into a compositional element..
