We sat down with Europe's top King of Fighters player Selene 'Iron Phantom' Voss ahead of her World Finals appearance to discuss preparation, opponents, and her unique multi-game strategy.
Selene “Iron Phantom” Voss is the only player in the current GAUNTLET standings who competes seriously across three different titles. We caught up with the German competitor at a pre-Finals open session to get her thoughts on the upcoming event.
On Preparation
“I’ve spent the last six weeks on nothing but KOF,” she says, adjusting her controller. “That’s unusual for me, but the World Finals prize pool in my main game is worth the focus. I can play Strive for fun after March.”
Her team composition has evolved significantly since the EU Championship. She’s moved away from the balanced team that won her the European title and toward a more aggressive, momentum-based setup.
On the Competition
“Dragon King is obviously the name everyone mentions, but he plays MK. In KOF, I’m not afraid of anyone on the current seedings. The one I’m watching is Nakamura — he’s been posting sets in KOF lately, and that Tekken background gives him unusual reads.”
On Multi-Game Play
Iron Phantom is rare in the modern FGC: a top-level player who can compete at elite level across multiple titles. “I think it makes you a better player overall. The mental stack is similar. You learn to read opponents, not just characters.”
