We believe fashion is not an industry — it is a language. Every garment is a sentence. Every collection is a manifesto. Every person who gets dressed in the morning is an author.

FOLIO was founded in 2019 by a small group of editors and photographers who were frustrated by the distance between fashion media and the creative work it claimed to represent. We wanted a publication that treated fashion with the intellectual rigor of architecture criticism and the visual ambition of a gallery exhibition.

Seven years later, FOLIO has grown into something we never planned: a global community of creative people who share a conviction that how we present ourselves to the world matters — not as vanity, but as expression. As art.

We publish quarterly in print and continuously online. We commission original photography exclusively. We pay our writers what their words are worth. And we never, under any circumstances, publish content that was written to sell a product.
